Sterling Fuels in west Windsor has been ordered to complete a number of repairs following an inspection by Windsor Fire and Rescue Services.

Fire inspectors and government safety and environmental officials attended the facility last week after being alerted to alleged dangerous practices involving flammable and toxic substances and lack of a fire safety plan.

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services ordered Sterling Fuels to complete a number of undisclosed repairs within 30 days.

We will be throwing all our resources at fixing the cited minor upgrades and repairs, and expect to start the work immediately,” said Joel Gardner, health, safety and environmental manager at Sterling Fuels.

“The larger task that we will be focusing on is completing an updated safety plan in the next 60 days.”

Gardner said the company has hired an engineering firm recommended by the deputy fire chief who conducted the inspection.

The firm, LRI Engineering, specializes in building code consulting, fire protection system design, fire alarm system design and emergency planning.

Calls to Windsor fire and Sterling Fuels for details of the repairs were not returned.
